Support Small Buisness!

It is not just for Small Business Saturday!

This page may contain advertisements or affiliates, which may allow me to take home a small amount of income at no additional cost to you. For more information, go here.

I think we all love the idea of supporting small and local businesses. Independently owned companies are the heartbeat of this country and are what many deem as the American success story. While I do not always practice this myself, I support the idea of small businesses, especially as I am attempting to start my own business. Admittedly, I love online shopping, so Amazon does tend to be my go to.

However, online shopping is not just for Amazon and the big name stores any more. You can find online stores for just about any website or individual. Having an online platform has become vital to pretty much any business. Most people search for businesses via the internet. In addition, there are several online websites that highlight a variety of small businesses.

Two of my favorite online websites featuring multiple sellers include:

Etsy: Almost everybody has heard of Etsy. I even have a few personal friends that have an Etsy shop.

Check out the following: The Southern Librarian, Pink Bull Creative, and Sarah Geringer Creates.

See below for details of each shop.

The second website I LOVE and peruse quite often is:

Jane.com: Perhaps a lesser known website, as I still run into people who have never heard of Jane. Almost every time I look at the website, I see some great products, prices, and unique finds.

Jane is a boutique marketplace that allows for businesses to market to an already engaged audience. Small businesses provide the products and Jane provides the customers! It is a great way for small businesses, both online and brick and mortar, to reach a larger audience and get their name out there.

All of this brings me to my point: You can have the convenience of online shopping and support small businesses at the same time. You can have your cake and eat it too.

Please Note:

If you are buying from places that are smaller please allow them more time for shipping, as many of the items are custom made and some businesses are just trying to get their business off the ground.

A little extra grace is needed.

Small businesses are made up of your neighbors and friends and they need our support to make it work. In addition, small businesses may not have the luxury of shipping through Amazon yet. (P.S. Did you know Amazon does feauture some local shops as well?)

What This Post Is Not:

Now this post is not about the details of selling with online websites, of which I know nothing about. Neither do I know the commissions or percentages these platforms offer. Those are not things I have researched yet. A quick Google search reveals an overwhelming result of different platforms and techniques for selling online products.

My post today is merely meant to showcase a few local business that are selling their products in one of the aforementioned ways. Additionally, I think when you know somebody who is personally starting a business, it makes you want to support small business even more.

When you know somebody personally, you see the result of supporting small business first hand. So we don’t just need “Small Business Saturday”, we need “All Year Small Business”. The entrepreneurial spirit is what this country was built upon, after all.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to a few of my personal friends’ shops.

Please note: Even though they are my friends and I may admittedly be a bit biased, I do my best to be completely honest and impartial. My bluntness and honesty is one thing I am known for! In addition,if you decide to click on the links, I may receive a small bit of income at no additional cost to you or the sellers. Regardless, I am merely excited for my friends and want to help in any way possible!)

Southern Librarian: I don’t know about you, but I find book lovers hard to buy for at times. Everybody has a little bit different tastes and different opinons. One thing I am betting they could agree on is the cute items in the Southern Library. This shop features unique items that many book lovers will love! I personally love combining themed items: Pairing a book mark with a related earring, Gifting a mug rug and matching mug. Whatever you decide, I think you will be loved for many years. Not that gift giving is about what you receive, but it always warms your heart a little more when you see a gift being used as you imagined.

Pink Bull Creative: I do not consider myself super crafty, but if that is your thing, then look no futher than my friend Paige’s shop for your own designs. Go ahead and give yourself permission for some craft time. You deserve it. šŸ™‚

Sarah Geringer Creates: Finally, last, but certainly not least, meet my new friend and fellow Christian blogger, Sarah. In addition to having a wonderfully encouraging website and some pretty impressive book stats, she also has some wonderful inspirational paintings in her Etsy shop. I am all about having inspiration surrounding me so that whenever I look around me I can be reminded of All the Good Things. Probably one of the reasons I love Christmas and decorating my tree so much! (See this post here for more on that!)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Everywhere you go!

With Christmas hot on our heels, if you have not finished your shopping (don’t worry, you are not alone!), then do not forget to check out some local and small businesses! You will not only bring Christmas to your family, but you will be warming the heart of your neighbor as well.

As always, Thanks for Reading! Sharing is Caring!

  1. I agree with you that we should support the small businesses that are trying to feed their families. It makes a bigger difference to them, especially during the Christmas season.
